Violin Concerto

Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto (1939) is one of his most performed works. Its two opening movements are warmly lyrical and melodic, each around ten minutes long, before a disproportionately brief and technically ferocious finale in perpetuum mobile - an unusual structure that Barber himself stood firmly behind.
