Beethoven's Ninth Symphony

Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 is one of the most influential works in the classical repertoire. The music begins quietly and grows gradually, until the choir joins in the finale with a musical setting of Friedrich Schiller's poem "Ode to Joy" - a tribute to community and freedom.

The symphony is performed by the Norrlandsoperan Symphony Orchestra together with the Höga kusten Vocal Ensemble and soloists, conducted by Eduardo Strausser. The participating soloists will be announced later. The concert also marks the conclusion of Norrlandsoperan's Beethoven Year, during which several of the composer's works have been in focus throughout the season.
