Beethoven and Sandström
The evening opens with the premiere of Jan Sandström's Symphony No. 1. Sandström is one of Sweden's most renowned composers, and in his compositions he has sought a joyful, at times almost naïve sensibility.
Christian Lindberg then performs as soloist in his own work Mandrake in the Corner, where the trombone displays both playfulness and power - with Lindberg himself conducting.
The programme concludes with Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 2, written during a turning point in the composer's life and full of energy, unexpected rhythms, and a powerful finale.
Introduction at 18:25 in the Publikfoajén. The concert will be recorded for broadcast on Swedish Radio P2.
