Season Opening with Beethoven and Shostakovich

The season opens with three works spanning from contemporary to classical music.

The evening begins with Lil Lacy's Aurōra (2023), a piece that moves from muted, dark tones toward gradually brightening light - from the meditative to the expansive. This is followed by Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D major, with violinist Ava Bahari (born 1996, raised in Göteborg, trained at institutions including the Royal College of Music in Stockholm) as soloist. The programme concludes with Shostakovich's Symphony No. 1, written as a thesis work when the composer was nineteen years old. The concert also marks the beginning of Beethoven Year 2027, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the composer's death.

An introduction will be held at 18:25 in the Public Foyer.
