Season Opening with Beethoven and Shostakovich

The season opens at Norrlandsoperan in Umeå on 27 August 2026 with violinist Ava Bahari performing a programme spanning contemporary music and classical masterworks. The evening begins with Lil Lacy's Aurōra, a piece that unfolds from muted, dark tones toward gradually brightening light. Bahari then performs Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D major, followed by Shostakovich. This is one of three Swedish dates for Bahari this autumn - the tour continues later in Gothenburg and Norrköping. Norrlandsoperan is Northern Sweden's national opera and music theatre, with its own orchestra and ensemble whose productions regularly tour the region.
